Redlin Art Center Welcomes the Art of Joshua Spies
The Redlin Art Center is pleased to announce the opening of the Joshua Spies Art Exhibit at the Redlin Art Center this July. This temporary exhibit will feature a combination of original art and reproductions from the artist’s collection.
Joshua Spies, a national and international award-winning artist, grew up spending countless days observing wildlife on the vast prairies near Watertown, South Dakota. His artistic abilities were obvious and came to the attention of fellow Watertown native and nationally known wildlife artist, Terry Redlin. He has had the example, encouragement, and help of Terry, as well as some of America's best and most well-known wildlife artists.
“Josh is a family friend. I can remember my father sitting with Josh in his studio. My father knew Josh had great talent,” Charles Redlin recalls. “It is exciting for us to have the opportunity to showcase some of Josh’s work at the Redlin Art Center.”
Spies started his art business while earning his fine arts degree at South Dakota State University. His artistic growth and successes continued during his college years. Joshua Spies has traveled the world observing and photographing wildlife. His professional accolades are extensive and include Federal Duck Stamp winner 2009-2010 and the 2011 Safari Club International Artist of the Year.
"I am so honored to have my work on display at the home of such an incredible artist," Spies said. "I am very grateful for this opportunity."
The Redlin Art Center is a gift from Terry Redlin and the Redlin family. In 1997, the Redlin Art Center opened its doors to the public and has welcomed nearly 3 million visitors from all over the world. The Joshua Spies Exhibit will be on display at the Redlin Art Center from mid-July until mid-October and is located in the lower level gallery of the Redlin Art Center. Admission to the Redlin Art Center is free. For more information about the Redlin Art Center, visit For more information about Joshua Spies, visit
